The Floating Forest: Ship From 1911, That Even Served In WWII, Was Overtaken By Nature

Homebush Bay in Sydney, Australia is home to the remnants of a ship-breaking yard that operated during the mid 20th-century. Large watercraft that outlived their usefulness were towed to Homebush Bay and dismantled to salvage any components that could be reused or sold for scrap.

The rusted wreck overtaken by the elements, has now become part of the Homebush seascape. It is a popular destination for tourists, but it's also a favorite among photographers – even a Shipwreck Lookout was established. Most importantly, though, the 111-year-old Ayrfield stands as a small piece of history, one that will hopefully continue to amaze people for a long time.
